Custom programming, databases and server management, since 2002
I am Anthony Lopez-Vito, operating under my company, Another Cup of Coffee. I use the term website engineering because my work usually involves the stuff that happens behind the scenes: programming, databases and servers. Creative professionals, small businesses and not-for-profit groups hire me to help build websites and keep them running.
You can slot me in a project to work alongside your existing team of designers and developers. Alternatively, I can put together and manage a team of associates who work remotely and collaborate with me online. Although Another Cup of Coffee is incorporated in the United Kingdom, my clients and colleagues are based in different cities around the world.
Technology and skills
Hire me for projects that involve back-end programming challenges, specifically those that require extracting and processing content. I will probably use Python, PHP or BASH shell scripting together with Apache and MySQL on a Unix-based operating system (Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD). My particular speciality is migrating data from the Drupal and WordPress content management systems.
If you need a website, I will use WordPress and suggest that we customise a pre-made theme. For those that want ‘a visually stunning online presence that engages with your audience,’ there are other people who are very good at that kind of thing. In fact, you may be one of them, in which case you can hire me to work on the more technical areas of your project like plugin development or integration with other web services.
To get an good idea of my niche, think programming, databases and servers rather than industry insights and building brands.
What is your approximate budget for my component of the project?
- Under £5,000: unless it’s a content migration project, sorry but I probably won’t be able to help you.
- About £5,000-£15,000: please get in touch.
- More than £15,000: you might be better off hiring a larger web agency.
